Makingthemostofembarrassment,RobertMelee’sSelfPortraitencapsulatesallthecringe-worthysentimentsoffamilyphotography.Inlaidwithinamulti-windowframe,thesameimageofMelee’sfaceisreplicatedineachspace:dull-eyed,badhaircut,painstakinglyself-conscious.ReminiscentofWarhol’smultiples,Meleeoffershisportraitasbothiconandkeepsake,magnifyingthenakednessofpersonaldisclosureasagenericandemptysentiment.
