TheseriesofdrawingsModelsC(ModelsofConfinement),reflectsonthatdesireandthatobligationtoisolateus,butalsotalksaboutthatneedforsolitudewovenbyourfearoftheother.Thehumanbeing-socialanimalparexcellence-istornbetweenhissociabilityandhisloneliness;betweenhisneedtobondwiththeotherandhisneedtoliveabsent,aloneinhisivorytower,mumblinghisegoisminspacescreatedinhisimageandlikeness.

Ifthesedrawingsclaimanything,itistobringtothepointofparoxysmthatargumentofsolitude,thisexileofourgregariousessence.Whenfeartakesitstollonuswetendtoclose,todrawandplanourescapefromthesurroundingreality.Imaginingandsharingthesespacesof"newlife"impliesproposingacatalysttothisabsurddesiretoisolateourselves.Itisaresponsetoamelancholicdesiretolivelockedinourselves.AsIwalkedthroughthecitycenter,IfoundthesolitudeandromanticismofCasparDavidFriedrich,thesymbolismoftheruinsofClaudeLorrain,theinventionsofGiovanniBattistaPiranesiandsomeoftheempty,cuttingshadowsquaresofGiorgiodeChirico.Allofthemhavetemptedmetocompletetheabsurdityandthemetaphorofnewspaceswherewecanletourdoubtsandfearsrun,wherewewelcomeourmelancholicanddoubtfulgazeonthefuturetocomeinordertoerectthesespacesofconfinementinasortoffuneralarchitecture.Placesthatharborthedeathofanopenandunprejudicedman,whereyoucanwatchoverthesocialbodyofacityandoveracitizenwhorefusestodie,whohalf-opensthedoorfromhistower,leavingthatgapwherethereisnoroomfordramaorlackoffaith,wherethehumanbeingriseswithhisinventivecapacityandhispoeticsagacitytoremindusthatbaddreamsarealsocapableofentertainingoursouls.

ThedrawingsintheModelsCseries,areneitherutopias,sciencefiction,norabucolicdreamofarchitecturalplanning,perhapstheyareclosertoamoraltalewithwhichtounraveltheballofanightmarethathangsovereachofusandthatwon’tallowustoglimpseourtruefateandourabilitytochangetheorderofthings.

Afteritstravelingobstinacyonthehuntforthenexttreasure-fromNewYorktoRussia,fromRussiatoChina,fromChinatotheEmirates-theartworldhasfinallybeenforcedtoreturnhome.Aftersublimatingthegalleryandthemuseum,arthascomeback,likeanancientanddomesticgod,tothealtarwhereitusedtotinkleinancienttimes.Andafterbeingpushedoutoforbitbyalltheimaginableintermediaries,thatarthasreturnedtoagalaxymadetomeasurefortheartist.
